The Museum of the Future in Dubai will open to the public on February 22nd, with tickets on sale now.

It promises visitors an immersive experience that uses technology to represent art and encourages visitors to imagine what the future might be like in areas such as outer space, nature, and wellness.

The 78-meter-tall structure was named one of the 14 most beautiful museums on the planet in a list compiled by National Geographic magazine in July.

What are the exhibitions like on the inside?

The main exhibition spaces are on five of the seven floors, each of which is designed to look like a futuristic film set.

The museum takes about two to three hours to explore. Visitors are welcome to stay for as long as they wish.

The museum transports visitors to the year 2071 and imagines what life might be like in areas such as outer space resource development, ecosystems and bioengineering, health, wellness, and spirituality.

“New Moon,” one of the outer space-themed exhibitions, shows how the Moon could be transformed into a source of renewable energy for the entire planet.

The immersive experience simulates what it would be like to be inside a space station 600 kilometers above the Earth, gazing out the window to see the Moon.

Visitors can tour the space station and learn about the pioneers who live and work on board.

A mixed-reality recreation of the Amazon rainforest is featured in a nature-themed exhibition.

Visitors can explore the interactions of hundreds of different species and see details that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye.

Visitors to a wellness-themed exhibition are taken to a “sanctuary” away from digital life, where they are encouraged to reconnect with mind, body, and spirit.

Another area, “The Centre,” allows visitors to experience the restorative effects of movement, meditation, and water by immersing themselves in vibrations that rebalance their electromagnetic fields.

Is there anything for the kids?

The museum’s first floor is dedicated to a children’s exhibition called “Future Heroes.” The cost of admission is included in the ticket price.

Imagine, design, and build are the three main experiences available.

Children can play and learn by participating in activities that promote communication, collaboration, and creativity.

The free play area includes “future heroes expert guides” who assist children in working together to complete a mission.

How do I obtain tickets?

The museum admission fee is Dh145, but it is free for children under the age of three, people of determination, and Emiratis aged 60 and up.

Tickets are available for purchase on the museum’s website, www.motf.ae.

To enter the museum, all visitors, including those eligible for free admission, must reserve a time slot.

Tickets give you complete access to the museum’s experience and amenities.

Is a PCR test required?

Visitors do not need to show a Covid-19 vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test result to enter for the time being.

Timings

The museum will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on February 22.

The last entry is one hour before the store closes.

How do you get there?

The museum is located near the Dubai International Financial Centre, right next to the Jumeirah Emirates Towers.

The Dubai Metro is the most convenient way to get there. The closest station is Emirates Towers on the Red Line. The metro station is directly connected to the museum via a bridge.

The museum is also served by public buses 27, 29, and X22.

For those arriving by car, there are three hours of free self-parking for ticket holders.

There are only a few parking spaces available. Valet parking is also available.

General rules of the museum

Except for the “special exhibition galleries,” visitors are permitted to take photos and videos of the exhibitions for personal use. It is not permitted to use flash photography.

The use of tripods and selfie sticks is not permitted.

Guests are welcome to bring their own food to eat in the lobby and garden areas. Other exhibitions do not allow food or drink.

Each floor of the museum has restrooms.

There is free Wi-Fi available.
